Thanksgiving by SP

Thanksgiving

I love Thanksgiving. This year it was exciting and sad. The exciting part is that I got to make Triple Berry Pie.  The sad part is that my grandfather passed away. My grandfather had Parkinson's Disease. He was only 72 years old. After Thanksgiving we are going to have Friend's Giving! That is when we have friends over for a second Thanksgiving. I can't wait!

Guidance is fun!! by DS

This week we learned to deal with conflicts.  We learned 5 steps to deal with conflicts. Step One- be calm and plan what you are going to say.  Step Two- talk without yelling. Step Three- let the other person talk after you do.  Step Four- Think about what the other person might be thinking. Step Five- if nothing is going right tell a teacher/adult. These are some things we learned about conflicts and guidance.

A Book Bag Project by LS

This week I shared my book bag project. I was kind of nervous at first but then I was excited. I really liked my drawings and my objects. Everyone loved my Number 3 Journal from the book. I did the book Weirdmegeddon .  It is a great book if you like adventure. You should really read it. There is also a TV show called Gravity Falls. My favorite object in my book bag project was all of them! My objects are a key, journal, stuffed pig, star made of clay, hat, and pyramid made out of paper. I really enjoyed sharing my book bag project!

Thanksgiving with my family! By RH

This Thanksgiving I went to my cousin Bob's new house for the first time. We were the first ones there for the first time. It was BIG!!! I mean BIG!!! We went inside with the dip mom made for everyone. When we got inside I met their cat they had got a couple months ago. He was really friendly and calm.  Then we got a tour from my cousin Bob of the house. He showed us his second garage that was right next to the house. It was his mancave. In the second floor of the garage he had a freezer, a tv with old games like Pac Man, and a statue of a knight in front of the window. All and all I had a great time there. I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving!

Food Chain Game

Field Trip

Yesterday I went on a field trip to Robinson Woods. It was fun.  I got to hold a salamander.  One of the salamander's were kissing me on the palm of my hand.  It was cute.  It also tickled my hand.  So when we were on the trail we found some Roly-Polys (Pill Bugs).  They are so cute.  There were a lot of them.  Then we went back on the bus to school.

Math- Factors

This week we learned about FACTORS. Factors are multiplying to get a product.  For example 15 is a composite number- because you can get it by timesing 15x1 and 5x3. An example prime number is 7 because the only thing you can multiply to get it is 7x1.

Robinson Woods

This week we went on a Robinson Woods hike. We saw a pileated woodpecker and chipmunk. We turned over a log and found a red back salamander.  We stopped at a rocky area and wrote what we saw in our journal. When we were doing that we heard the woodpecker.  We were behind in time so we did not stop and write a second time about what we saw.  It was really fun. Our hike leader was named Mrs. Gent. It was really fun and cold.

Robinson Woods

One morning I woke up, got dressed and walked down to the bus stop. Once I was at the bus stop I played soccer for a bit. Then the bus came. I got on the bus and was talking with C. Then I got to school walked to class and Mrs. Bucci announced that we were leaving at 8:50 which was in 20 minutes. Then we hopped on the bus. We got to Robinson Woods on bus #3. I sat with my friends both ways-- there and back. When we got there we split up by classes because there were two classes there. Then we played games and started to walk. I think that Robinson Woods was really fun but cold.

Beautiful Animals in Robinson Woods

We learned about Robinson Woods and we picked animals. I was one of the first kids in our class list so I went last. So whatever was left I had to choose from. So I got the Spotted Salamander but I was happy with my choice. After that we went back to our desks. My animal had a book but it was about salamanders in general but not Spotted Salamanders. But thankfully there was a book Critters of Maine. It was about all the animals found in Maine it was the best.

EPIC!

Today we learned about Epic. Epic is a reading app. It is used to read almost any book you can think of (and you can do audio books).  They have categories like NEW on Epic and even SPOOKY! They even have series of books if you go all the way to the bottom. Like Scaredy Squirrel and The Box Car Children. You can search and add new books to your favorites and even check mail! That is why I think EPIC is the most epic book app ever!

GYM!

This week we had GYM. We learned about Gaga Ball and it was fun! I won all the rounds except one. When you get out you play 4 square. It was so much fun but I did not play. We lined up and we went back to class. I like Gaga Ball.

ANGLES and PERIMETER

I loved learning about angles and perimeters. We learned about obtuse angles, right angles, and acute angles. My favorite is the obtuse angles because it is the biggest. Obtuse angles are bigger than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees. Acute angles are less than 90 degrees. Right angles are exactly 90 degrees. I loved learning about angles.

For perimeters we learned how to find the perimeter of a square by taking the width and times'ing it by two. For the perimeter you have to find the width and the height. Then add them all together! If you have 2 for the width and 5 for the perimeter you add 5+2=7 then you double 7= 14! Then there... BOOM you have your answer 14.
I loved learning about angles and perimeters!

EPIC is EPIC!

Today we learned about the app EPIC. Epic is an app where you can read hundreds of different digital books of different genres or listen to audio books. Epic has many different tools for you if you are having any trouble. If you tap on a word Epic will give you a definition, the pronunciation and if the word is a verb, a noun or an adjective. You can search for different books on EPIC. You can also take quizzes or just read. I think anybody would understand EPIC it is easy which makes it better to use and you have more reading time instead of figuring it out time. I think EPIC is EPIC!

WILD TURKEYS!

Male turkeys can weight between 10-25 pounds. Female turkeys, called hens, weigh between 8-12 pounds. Wild turkeys have many predators like raccoons, skunks, bobcat, snakes, owls and foxes. When settlers came from Europe they found wild turkeys in the most of the Eastern and Central North America. People also use turkey calls to make them come to you so you can kill them or look at them. Mrs. Bucci brought in her turkey caller today!

Skyping with an Astronaut Expert!

This week we went to the Thomas Memorial Library and SKYPED with a lady named Emily. She is the host of a TV show called Exploration Outer Space. It is on Fox, Channel 7, on Saturday mornings. She is a friend of Mrs. McInness's daughter. She told us about zero gravity and answered some questions for us. It was really fun talking to her in California!

Smile! Picture Day!

This week we had school picture day! Some kids dressed up with a bow tie and top hat and sweater others wore their normal clothes which is fine. We had a start of a normal day until we got down to the area of pictures. It was all very loud and some what confusing but mostly loud.  They told us to sit down and handed us a paper. Then after 3 minutes we had to get in line quickly and onto the stage. When it was your turn we sat on a box. Then we were directed  - chin up  - to the side  - back up  ... then in an odd way we smiled and said "Puppies!" Flash. It was over!

This WEEK in Mrs. Bucci's Class

This week in Mrs. Bucci's class we did many things and learned many things! One thing that stands out was that we SKYPED with an astronaut. If you don't know...wait! Skype is well, its a video program that lets you video talk with people all over the world. The astronaut's name was Emily. Emily studied aerospace and engineering. It was a fantastic experience. We had a lot of fun!

Lost on a Mountain in Maine

Lost on a Mountain in Maine

This week we learned about the book Lost on a Mountain in Maine. Lost on a Mountain in  Maine is a book about Donn Fendler. Donn Fendler gets lost on Mount Katahdin for 9 days with no one to help him. Donn got separated from his Dad and other boy scouts.  Donn searched every part of Mt. Katahdin, but Donn could not find his Dad or the other boy scouts. Mrs. Bucci's class has not finished the whole book yet but we still know that Donn survived and lived to be 90 years old.

Magic Trash

This week in math we played a game called Magic Trash. First Mrs. Bucci rolled the dice- it landed on 6. We were trying to get the highest number out of 8 rolls. Most of us put 6 on the first - or largest - place value. When you put a number on a space you cannot erase it and you must put a number on a space as soon as it is called. Two numbers go in the trash. We played three rounds of the highest number then we played two rounds of the lowest number. It was fun!
